What a great day today!
I couldn’t help but shout out.
Today I had a long trip from Sapporo to Asahikawa for work. On the way, I was able to stop by Kinteki Shuzo, which I had always been interested in but never had time to visit. I was finally able to go.
Kinteki Shuzo is a brewery in Shintotsukawa, a small town with a population of about 6,700. The building is very retro and has a wonderful appearance.
This brewery seems to have a lineup of about 20 types of sake, but today I chose and purchased a few that I had never tried before. The first one I would like to introduce is Junmai Ginjo Kita no Hohoemi.
When poured into a sake cup, it is not dark aged sake, but it is quite yellow. The color is darker than white wine and lighter than honey. I tried drinking it first. I couldn’t help but groan in relief. Pleasant acidity, concentrated umami, and a faint ginjo aroma.
It’s so delicious that there’s nothing to complain about. I realized that the yellow color of this sake is proof that it has been aged.
I don’t drink ginjo sake with meals. Therefore, I wanted to enjoy this sake on its own. However, I wanted something to snack on, so I tried some raisin bread from the fridge. It went very well. Slightly sour German bread would also go well.
In the end, two-thirds of the bottle and a loaf of raisin bread were gone. Now, it’s time to retire to bed, giving thanks for having had another delicious sake today.
