Otokoyama Kimoto Junmai

Sake brewed in Hokkaido

It’s the season of snow here in Hokkaido. Today, I’d like to introduce a Hokkaido sake that’s perfect for this season. This is Otokoyama Kimoto Junmai, produced by Otokoyama Sake Brewery in Asahikawa.

I recommend drinking this sake warm. Of course, it’s also delicious at room temperature. It has a slight sourness and bitterness, and is neither sweet nor dry, but has a well-balanced, full-bodied taste. When you drink this sake warm, the fullness increases and it’s so delicious that it makes you sigh.

Last night, I had this sake warm (113°F), and it felt like I was drinking delicious soup. I’m impressed by the skills of Otokoyama Sake Brewery. They’re doing a great job. With this sake, getting through this winter will never be a hard thing. No, it’s actually fun. There is a sake in Hokkaido that makes you feel that way.
